Early Learning

Preschool Spots still remaining! Register Today!

Preschool serves as an introduction to the school experience. By exposing students to a comfortable and inspiring classroom environment, students are eager to continue to learn and grow in kindergarten and beyond. SoWashCo Schools provides high-quality preschool programming through the Early Learning Preschool program.

Children gain important skills and experiences in: Learning to follow routines and rules Learning to get along with other children Literacy, introductory reading and writing Math and number sense, science, art and music

The Community Education department is proud to offer preschool programs,

which have given SoWashCo Schools the opportunity to connect with and support students before they enter kindergarten.

Current availability at the District Program Center, 8400 E. Pt. Douglas Rd. S., Cottage Grove, MN (for children 3 years or older by September 1, 2021)

3 year olds:

  • Tuesday/Thursday 9:15-11:45 a.m.
  • Tuesday/Thursday 1:15-3:45 p.m.

3 & 4 year olds:

  • Monday/Wednesday, Friday 1:15-3:45 p.m. Monday/Wednesday 1:15-3:45 p.m.

Got your lifeguard certification and your kids are at school? Apply to lifeguard during PE classes! Must be available to work all pool locations in Cottage Grove and Woodbury. Hours vary between 2 – 5 hours/day when PE is scheduled in the pool. Hours range between 7:55 AM and 3:00 PM. Must have a willingness to help teachers ensure safety and order while in the pool. Need to be at least 18 years old. APPLY HERE


(Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Elementary Backstroke, Side Stroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly)We are hiring part time swim instructors for multiple locations within the district. Must have a willingness to work with children and parents. Lifeguard preferred – but not required. We will train the right candidate!! Need to be at least 14 years old. APPLY HERE

Kids Club

We're Hiring! If you like working with kids and are looking for part time or full time work, Kids Club may be the place for you! 

Kids Club is a school age child care program operated by SoWashCo Schools Community Education. Kids Club is offered before and after school and on school release days at all 16 elementary schools. Experience working with children is preferred.

Join us! We have a full lineup of free activities each week such as Bingo, Farkle, 500, Mexican Train, Mahjong, Hand & Foot and more. See dates and times HERE.

Let’s get fit together! FREE afternoon classes now have openings! Monday/Wed. at 3:00 pm is SAIL – Stay Active and Independent for Life (Age 65+)and Tues/Thurs. is Strength & Balance. We also have a Zumba Gold class coming up. Choose either a Thursday class beginning October 28 or a Tuesday class beginning Nov. 2 or register for both! Each six week class costs $60.
